Before changing your consumer unit I recommend that you have a periodic inspection carried out to ensure there are no underlying faults with your existing installation
Having carried out a periodic inspection and rectified any existing faults I can then change your consumer unit and issues an Electrical Installation certificate, schedule of test results and schedule of inspection.
Periodic Inspections
To ensure your property is electrically safe it is recommended that for domestic installations a periodic inspection is carried out at least every ten years, however for rental properties you must have them tested every five years or every change of tenancy. I also recommend that a periodic inspection is carried out before changing a consumer unit this is to ensure that there are no underlying faults.
